Shanghai Food Street

March 1st, 2008

Well Just a quick one today, as I am off to check out Yang’s Fried Dumplings, on Wujiang Lu. To get to Yang’s, take the Shanghai Metro to Nanjing Xi Lu station, and get off at exit 4. Walk through what can only be described as “Beirut without the Bullets”, follow Wujinag Lu, under the overpass, past yet another example of the unrelenting march of “progress”, once you get to the traffic lights, cross the road and your there.

I won’t be doing a write up on this place, as it has been reviewed one million and one times, but suffice to say I think this is the place Mackler brought me to last time I was in Shanghai. Whilst trying to find out where the hell this was and searching Google for “Shanghai Food Street”, I came across this website.

Mark over at www.likealocal.cn has done a stellar job of cataloguing and reviewing a multitude of restaurants and eating joints in and around Shanghai. I will be using this site from now on, I find the latest Lonely Planet Shanghai a little bit lacking. To be fair to the guys over at LP, it’s not that the book is bad, there’s no way it can be as quick or as up to date as the blogosphere….or what we used to refer to as “the web”, for us older dogs out there.
